Lumbar Support Belt for the Working Man
Having good posture is essential to having a healthy back. We can all remember in our childhoods our mothers imploring us to sit up straight, have our shoulders back and chest out. Little did we realize what sage advice this was and if we had kept on practicing proper posture techniques this would have eliminated a lot of our posture and lower back problems.
A lot of back issues originate with our working environments. This is especially true if you do physical work such as carrying and lifting. We have all heard proper lifting procedures such as using bended knees but sometimes, tweaks and twists happen to the back. Having a back injury is inevitable if you don’t have the proper safety measures in place. Remember that you want to enjoy life after you retire and having a healthy back and the ability to move without pain is a big part of it.
Since men are more prone to doing strenuous heavy lifting as part of their work, occupational posture supports are ideal to preventing lower back injury. Wearing a lumbar support belt or brace should come as no surprise to athletic guys familiar with such sports as weight lifting where you wear a weight lifting belt for support. Nor should the idea of a belt for lower back support be foreign to guys already accustomed to wearing compression shirts or girdles for men. While these are types of men’s slimming underwear, they do also offer corrective posture support as obesity and back problems are related due to the extra weight one must carry on the frame.
While wearing a back support brace is a good start to heading off occupational hazards that would injure the spine, this is just an aid. If you truly want to improve your spine alignment and posture, you need to work hard in strengthening your core muscles that supports your lower back. Back support aids are an alignment guide but without exercises, your back can rely too much on these support belts which can become an issue once you get used to it and forget you have it on. While it is good you are adjusting to having a posture support brace on and it is comfortable, injuries can come along when you forget to wear them.
There is no question that back support belts and corrective posture braces are a must have for those who work blue collar jobs in order to save their backs. Add to this the basic ergonomic principles of lifting and then exercises to keep the core muscles strong, one can expect future without back problems.
